As a family we managed to get out of bed and get out the door in enough time to make it to early service this morning. Candi's teaching during the second service time so this would have been the only time she and I could be in the service together so it was important. In our hurry to get out the door, we prepared breakfast on the run. I chomped down my two sausage biscuits while I got the car started and the windows cleared of dew. Cami came out next, sliced bagel and cup of milk in hand. I got her into the car and buckled is as we waited for Candi to make her exit. She was a couple more minutes and just as I was trying not to look at the clock, she came out with her arms full of teaching materials and her Bible but no breakfast. I honestly didn't think much of it as she sometimes forgoes breakfast if her stomach is bothering her or something. Well, as we begin pulling up the street, Candi says that she dropped her food in the floor and didn't have time to make something else. Just then, a little hand with a quarter of a bagel almost magically appears between me and Candi. Cami has shared her breakfast and tells Candi that there's more bagel back there if she wants more.
Cami's generosity and selflessness catches me off-guard sometimes and really takes my breath away. She is a constant reminder of how good we can be when love (Cami's guiding principle) is ever at the front of our lips and our hearts.
